Go Big or Stay Home

Something really exciting happened for us yesterday.
As some of you may know, Kyle and I have been looking for jobs and working our way towards moving to North Carolina. We visited this past spring, and fell in love with almost everything about the place.
Since then, we've been working our little butts off trying to save for our move, and find jobs to support us.
We've had zero luck.
I had one serious hit on my resume, and interviewed for a job, and then got rejected. It was a tough blow, but I picked myself back up and started again, from square one. I opened up my search to include jobs I would have never thought of, and I've sent out more than 100 applications, and almost as many follow-up emails.
We've both rewritten our resumes and worked with staffing agencies to see if they could find us a spot.
Nothing.
Now, as much as we want to move to NC, we really just want to try something new. We love being close to family here in the PNW but we also really want to go places and try new things. We are looking for our adventure.
NC is what we settled on, but after about 6 months with no luck, we decided to open up our options. On our way to work on Tuesday we went through a list of all the states and made a list of all the places we'd be willing to move.
During this conversation I mentioned my desire to just pick up and go. I was tired of waiting, and tired of trying to secure a job from 3,000 miles away. Kyle wasn't so keen on this idea, and made me a deal. If I could secure a place to live for less than a certain amount (so we could live off our savings for a while), or a job by June 20th (our original planned move date) he would move.
Honestly I wasn't even sure I could do either, but lo and behold in less than 24 hours I had one thing, and half of the other.
Right off, I texted my Aunt Sara who has been trying to get me to move to Missouri for YEARS and asked if we could come live with her and find jobs. Missouri was one of the states we'd thought about, and I was hopeful she'd help us out.
Because she's amazing, she happened to have a few places to start looking for jobs, and some promising leads for me. I applied for jobs on Tuesday night, and by Wednesday morning received calls on three of them. Only one company was willing to wait until later in June for an interview, but that's still more action I've seen on the job front in over a year.
As far as housing, it turns out, she has a house for rent, and while she had one interested party, was willing to make a deal for us, so we can move in as soon as possible.
Since yesterday afternoon Kyle and I have a house waiting for us, and a number of job interviews lined up for the week after we move. Kyle got a call from a recruiter who is marking his resume, and lining up a series of interviews right when we get there.
We are amazed at how quickly all of this has come together, and still in shock to the fact that we will be moving in a little over 2 weeks.
While North Carolina was something we really wanted, there was something off about trying to get there. Nothing lined up, and no one wanted to give us a shot. Turning our sights to Missouri was a breath of fresh air, as we were able to see everything fall into place, and just make sense.
I know it probably seems a little crazy moving half way across the country without jobs, and honestly I wouldn't go if it weren't for the amazing support from family, and of course Kyle.
We are incredibly excited about this decision and I hope to keep you all updated on our crazy adventure, and where it leads.
